In all my time blogging, shooting outfit posts and sharing on this little space that I call my own slice of the internet, I cannot think to a time where I mixed denim on denim, aka a Canadian tuxedo. Definitely a step out of my comfort zone, but hey isn’t that what fashion and style is all about? My exact skirt is in meager quantities and sizes around the internet, but I seriously considered this Rag & Bone/Jean shredded version (on sale!) in my search and have to recommend it.

You may ask, where I am?; What is this backdrop? Who is Brian Gavin? Well I had the pleasure of visiting the Brian Gavin workspace and showroom right here in Houston, earlier this month, and played dress up with a few of their made to order pieces as well as their latest mother’s day collection. Brian is a 5th generation diamond cutter who does business all over the world; particularly online. Pretty interesting how the generations are changing right? Occasionally he’ll have a client or two visit the showroom, but most of his requests – and he can do pretty much anything you could possibly think of – are done over email, the phone or his e-commerece site.

I was particularly drawn to the pink flower studs – such a pop to an otherwise rather simple outfit. I tied in the floral trend with a ring from Brian Gavin Diamond‘s just released Mother’s day collection – The Fiorella Collection – which I highly recommend you check out if you’re in the market for a gift for mom. I’m particularly fond of stacking my rings right now (last seen here and here) so it was a no brainer to stack these pieces and even better, The Fiorella Collection is meant to be stacked! Hey mom, can we share?!
