The can be super overwhelming! As I mentioned earlier this week in my shopping tips and tricks, having a plan before shopping is essential. For me, it’s looking for the best closet staples and basics. Yes there are a lot of cute and on-trend items on sale, but I try not to let myself get too wrapped up in the trendiness of them. Instead, my top buys at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2018 are classic tops, jackets, denim and must-have basics

It’s still really hot here in Houston, and we won’t see any sort of relief for months. I’ll be curating a list of items that can be worn now and later in the next few days, but for now, take the on-trend . Easy to wear now with cutoff jean shorts and easy to wear later with denim, a cool leather jacket and some booties.

I said this last year and I’ll say it again. If you’re going to splurge, go for the items that are classic staples. In need of a new coat for the fall/winter months ahead? I cannot recommend a classic enough. I’ve had mine for a few years now, and it’s a tried and true staple in my closet. I wear it all the time in the cooler months and will continue for years to come. When it comes to this year’s top buys at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2018 in denim, I’m all about the and Frame. I snagged a pair last year, and I wore them so much. Definitely got my money’s worth! So this year, I’ve got my eye on yet another pair – the .

Don’t worry, I didn’t forget about dresses. I am in love with almost all things Joie, it’s one of my favorite designers, and this is no different. The little swiss dots give it such a chic look, plus it’s wearable to so many occasions!

You can never go wrong with grabbing a classic handbag. I tend to opt for neutrals during this sale, things that I can build a wardrobe and closet around! Enter the everyday , they’re the best and so lightweight – rarely do you ever find them on sale, FYI. I’ve had my eye on an for years, but never pulled the trigger. I love the subtle grey of this bag and think it would work year around! Don’t pass up the either, such classic staples.

In terms of shoes, grab the while you can. These babies always fly off the shelves every single year. I really like the classic and chic, very equestrian-esque, style of this year’s Tory Boot.

For me, I am absolutely loving the beauty offerings this year! Besides the above, other top buys at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2017 include this (I’m in need of new brushes), this set of (still love my set from last year’s sale!), a duo of two (I’ve just started using and love them, look at the reviews, too, so good!).
