5 minute simple DIY Flower Arrangements

One thing that’s always brought me joy: putting together flower arrangements. I’m by no means a florist, but I’ve always loved flowers and arranging them for my home. I’m often asked my tricks, so I thought I’d share my tips for putting together 5 minute simple DIY flower arrangements with grocery store flowers.

It’s no secret Trader Joe’s has a seriously amazing flower selection, and at great prices. When I have the time to drive to TJ’s, I love to head there for a variety of my flower needs, especially when I’m creating arrangements for centerpieces or have family visiting.

I was recently introduced to , a brand of handmade Italian dinnerware and home decor. Their pieces are beautiful and of utmost quality. Almost all my vases are clear, but now I have these two stunning mouth-blown white glass vases, to add to my collection.

Since these vases are eye-catching on their own, I didn’t want to overpower them with large or bold flowers. I quickly put together these 5 minute simple DIY flower arrangements, and you can too with my easy tips!

When creating at home DIY arrangements, I try to stick to a budget. With that being said, I look for bunches of flowers on sale or perhaps aren’t as big (also meaning priced lower). Instead of large roses, I opt for smaller, spray roses. I also look for fillers that are pretty or have a scent, such as Eucalyptus or fresh Aster Solidago. Both add a subtle pop of color, too.

To maximize the length of time your arrangements last, cut each floral stem at an angle and make sure to remove all leaves, that might touch the water, from the stem.

To be honest, why I call these my 5 minute simple DIY flower arrangements is because there really isn’t too much of a rhyme or reason to arranging the flowers. For me, the thought really goes into picking the flowers. For ease, stick to a color scheme. In this instance it’s mostly white with pops of green and yellow.

The rest comes somewhat naturally when it’s time to start arranging. Because the mouth of these vases is narrower, I place the spray roses around the outermost edges of the vase opening. Once the space begins to fill, it’s easy to see where you need to insert your filler florals.

*Quick tip: for variety in your arrangement, don’t cut all your stems at the same length. As you can see I left the Eucalyptus a little bit longer, along with some of my rose stems. The differences in length allows for visual variety, along with a little height depending on where you might place your arrangements.

Quick to put together and zero stress! These 5 minute simple DIY flower arrangements are game changers when it comes to hostessing.

I’d say the vessel you use for your arrangement makes a difference, and a statement! In case you’re looking for some new vases to add to your collection, you might check out these unique  or this classic .

My husband always brings home fresh flowers. I have multiple vases that I have around the house for different arrangements. We also make sure to send fresh bouquets his mother. My mother loved it when we filled her house with flowers when we came to visit every year.

Totally agree that TJ flowers are the way to go! I usually try to find one of their seasonal premade bouquet then buy additional bunches of some of the flowers in the bouquet to make it fuller. They always turn out so beautiful! I’ll have to remember your tip of cutting the leaves off that will touch the water, I always forget that step.

I love the neutral colors that you used. I like getting flowers from local grocery stores because of their price range.

I loved the arrangement. White colors always look so clean. I also loved the little pumpkins.

These are gorgeous. I swear our Trader Joe’s in Indy does not get these same great flowers! I check constantly, but the floral area is quite small and the selection is always limited. Such a bummer!

I love the flowers from Trader Joe’s – affordable and beautiful. Now I should try to arrange them rather than just plop them in a vase. Thanks!

Your arrangements are so pretty. I will have to remember these the next time I do flower arrangements at home or else where. I wouldn’t have thought to cut them at different lengths until I had cut them all the same. Your experience is my gain. Thanks so much for sharing these.

Very elegant and simple. I like monochromatic flower arrangements.
