Back again this AM to chat more home decor and goods shopping with my friends at Pier 1 Imports. One of their newest stores in The Woodlands, Texas – Hughes Landing – is expertly laid out for everyone from the novice to the best of the best home good purchasers. Like I said last week here, don’t be daunted! You have a game plan, especially if you follow my previous tips; without a doubt you will enter and leave with what you’re looking for.
So how about this time we chat about shopping for a house party. Memorial Day is right around the corner, so what better way to celebrate than with some great looking martini glasses for fun drinks by the pool or in the kitchen with gal pals.
I’m all for color. Especially when it comes to a celebration. Summer is right around the corner, and Pier 1 Imports is your one stop shop for party goods like cheeky cocktail napkins, cutlery in all sizes and finishes, and some seriously adorable stemware and glasses. I gravitated straight towards these polka dot martini glasses. I could imagine using them with a girlfriend for a fun, fruity adult beverage when the weekend hits at 5pm on a Friday. I also love trays – I use them for just about everything and this lacquered blue tray is sturdy, but not too heavy to hold my drink glasses and cocktail napkins for guests.Â

I’m usually drawn to kitchen goods. So when having a house party, it’s essential to think about the fact that often times more than not, the women hang out in the kitchen while the men are around the grill or the TV. Then why not make your girlfriends jealous with some seriously adorable kitchenware and accessories. How cute are these owl shaped cookie jars & canisters? I try not to keep sweets around my house on a usual basis (I have a pretty bad sweet tooth!), but for a party, fill these babies up with some fun candies, cookies or homemade chocolate dipped pretzels for guests to easily munch away.Â
I must admit, I am a serious sucker for pretty printed napkins and placemats. I can’t wait for the day that I have a large-size dining room table that can be outfitted with great table settings. A party wouldn’t be complete without colorful placemats, napkins and adorable napkin rings. I know some people think napkin rings are a waste, because they’re just for decoration, but y’all in case you weren’t aware… it’s all in the details! For me it was a no brainer to gravitate towards the striped blue and green napkins – matching my home decor perfectly!

Let us not forget the accessories to make a party. I am all about indoor-outdoor parties, when the weather permits. If you have the space, these gem lanterns would make for lovely accessories to a late afternoon-early evening get together with a flickering candle inside. I am rather in love with Moroccan details (see my Moroccan Pinterest board devoted to such) and these lanterns hit it on the head. If you don’t have an outdoor space to spread out in, place these lanterns around your front door or entry way for a little spruce to the party.

It’s only natural to check out the chairs – like I said in my previous post – sit, try furniture out – know you’re making the right decision before you pull the trigger. I am a sucker for a good upholstered chair. I especially loved the yellow french like toile chair in the middle. Again, your guests will be thanking you when they’ve have an extra drink, their feet hurt from their heels or their ready to dig into their meal when they can sit on lovely and comfortable chair and not the folding, uncomfortable plastic or metal kind.Â
Like an admitted throw pillow addict, I am also an addict to detailed, pretty dinnerware sets. I may just have to pick up this set for my own kitchen. Fun for everyday use as well as dressed up with the right accouterments. Plus, who said a coffee cup should be plain and white? Drink your caffeine in a fun printed mug like this blue indigo floral mug. Not that I planned my outfit with the background and the dinnerware set I picked out or anything, but I have to say it was quite a nice fit, right?! I digress… having uniform dinnerware for a party or get together is exactly the way to show your guests your all for the details!

So of course you can’t forget to kick up your heels in excitement when you’ve finished shopping for said party and also when you’ve thrown the bash of the season and everyone has gone home! Kick up your heels, grab a drink or glass of wine and pat yourself on the back.Â
