Here checking in with you on day three of Fashion Week and wanted to give you the lowdown from some of the shows I’ve attend thus far. First off, New York has given us a little crazy weather – Thursday it rained ALL day, which was a treat… Friday, it was truly like a fall day in the AM, with sun and clouds mixed, a little warmth in the afternoon but really a great day with NO rain.
I have to say, I am not entirely a fan of the setup this season. I’ve spent my fair share of time in taxis thus far this season shuttling from one side of town to the other! Granted it’s mere miles apart but with the ridiculous traffic it takes forever!!

Thursday morning started for me bright and early with BCBG Max Azria at 10am. I really didn’t think I was going to make the show between the rain and the horrible traffic, but somehow I did and was really glad for that.
Here’s the lowdown of what I saw at this show: the bucket hat revisited, oversized hoodies and ponchos with crochet and tie-dye thrown in. I know this sounds crazy, but it really worked. Inspired by Southern California – the vibe was truly that. Beach wear with hints of glistening summer in a gold jacket, dresses that can be thrown on easily over swimsuits or for drinks by the beach.
It felt a little modern 90s grunge a la Clueless, but up a few notches. Namely Travis, remember him? With those oversized hoodie pullovers and slouchy pants. But, again this was all in a good way. Overall I was intrigued by BCBG Max Azria‘s collection and could definitely see myself picking up a few pieces in the spring. PS – fringe was still in full force, and I was seriously thrilled to see it around for another season.
Until then, I am loving a few currently available looks like this open back fringe dress, a perfectly classic and girly lace collared white dress and this pair of high-heeled ankle booties to wear with either dress.

After that I popped on over to a smaller show space off of West 21st street where I had the chance to sit front row for Leanne Marshall. If any of you are Project Runway watchers like me, then you may remember her as the winner of season five.
Her S/S16 collection was rather ethereal and took us through color combinations in blacks, blues, whites and greens. The craftsmanship was stunning with flowing frocks that looked to weigh nothing on the model. Beautiful fabrics that swayed as the model took her steps down the runway. There were so many pieces that I would love in my closet, but I just need an event to attend!

On Friday, we woke up to a day that felt more like a fall than summer one. I had the pleasure of making it into the Kate Spade SS16 presentation. Once I made it inside the fall day felt more like spring with the overwhelming smell of thousands of flowers like a bodega market during the perfect in bloom season. Kate Spade teamed up with FTD to bring thousands of flowers all around the venue space, even giving us attendees handpicked bouquets that were wrapped in brown paper and ribbon as a parting gift.
It’s safe to say I will have my eye on pretty much every piece once it becomes available for purchase. A particular ice cream truck clutch, a pup shaped handbag and some poppy yellow dresses and separates caught my eye. While munching on a mini chocolate doughnut with champagne in hand I wandered the line of sequined frocks and cheeky accessories dreaming of spring.
Since we still have fall and winter to make it through, definitely check out the latest from Kate Spade including my favorite, a little Owl puff keychain and this killer, yet chic red bow back dress.
I’ll be back with more runway recaps from New York Fashion Week in the days to come! Meanwhile follow along via Instagram and Snapchat {at} aecarreno26 for a better look at my day-to-day fun NYFW SS16 shenanigans.
