With summer winding down, it’s time to begin making that summer to fall transition with our wardrobes. It’s not going to be easy here in Houston, as we’ve got at least another month of summer-like temperatures. But, incorporating my olive military jacket into outfits has been an easy way for me to get into the fall mindset.

I really love my olive military jacket. I actually picked it up earlier this spring and have been pretty inseparable from it ever since. It’s just one of those items in my closet that’s easy to toss on over a top, a dress, etc. for a cool look (see this Instagram photo and this one from earlier this summer). I would say that a military jacket definitely dresses outfits down rather than up, but it also provides for a cool look too.
Push up the sleeves or wear as a topper over your shoulders and this jacket will be your best friend through fall and winter, dependent on how cold it gets outside.
Paired with a pair of suede wedge mule sandals and some distressed denim, an olive military jacket is a great transitional piece for any wardrobe.
We shot this outfit in Santa Barbara, so the temps were a bit cooler, but I could easy slip off my military jacket for bare sleeves if it got hot and if I was cold in a restaurant or in the evening, just slip it back on.
