Summer Days by the Pool with Dr Pepper

The hubby and I will usually hangout poolside in the afternoons, along with some tunes, a yummy food spread and some Dr Pepper refreshments!

Whether we’re poolside together or invite some friends over to connect, I like to have Dr Pepper on hand for a tasty beverage, either by itself or for a mixed drinks option.

I’ve always loved to host get-togethers, and hosting a pool party is one of my favorite things to do during the warmer months. It can be overwhelming to host something, so I’ve broken down my top hostess tips for a day poolside. Whether it’s with family, friends or a boyfriend/significant other, following these steps will position you as the consummate hostess with the mostess!

1. Play some awesome tunes

Music plays a large role in Rick and I’s life. We love to turn on music and sing-along whether we’re in the car, doing tasks around the house or outside by the pool. I suggest curating your playlist before you head out to the pool. That way, you’ll just have to turn on your speaker and go. I love using radio apps and have some really great stations I’ve modified to my liking including the ‘Dave Matthew’s Band’ station and ‘Hipster Cocktail Party radio’. Rick loves creating his own playlists off of his own music library and will include tunes from Coldplay, Calvin Harris or Mumford and Sons. A great playlist will most definitely set the mood for your pool day. Don’t be afraid to sing along and have fun!

2. Hydrating and refreshing beverages

You’re out in the heat by the pool, and just because you may be taking a refreshing dip, doesn’t mean you should neglect staying hydrated. Make sure to have refreshing beverages on hand like water or a tasty Dr Pepper. I like to head to my local Walmart and grab a 12 pack of cans for our pool day. It’s easy to spend a long day by the pool and forget to nourish your body. I like to keep snacks poolside for whenever someone gets that hunger pang after jumping off the diving board one too many times. I tend to go for snacks that pack some nutrients and satisfy. When it’s hot outside, there’s nothing like fresh fruit. For example, watermelon is a great snack poolside, as it’s both hydrating and full of nutrients. Toss some pita chips into a bowl alongside some fresh hummus and you’ll be sure to stay full in-between meals poolside.

4. Make it fun!

What better way to make a pool day one to remember than with fun pool floats and toys? With the variety of fun pool floats available these days, your pool will be colorful and welcoming filled with a few of these inflatable goodies. Last year at my bachelorette party, my bridesmaids had adorable inflatable drink holders handy for all of our beverages as we hung out poolside.
