I felt like today’s photos were totally fitting considering today kicks off the start of the 2018 Winter Olympics! I’m a serious Olympics junkie, to the point that I record different events and plan my schedule around the calendar of events. So how about my take on casual après ski style for an outfit idea, shot in the picturesque Olympic Village in Squaw Valley.

I’ve pretty much loved the Olympics since I can remember. This love for watching transpired into my picking up competitive figure skating for the better part of my childhood. It’s definitely hard to pick a favorite winter Olympics event, but I truly love figure skating and downhill skiing. Do you have a favorite?
If you remember, last month I spent a few days skiing in Squaw Valley, on the North side of Lake Tahoe. We spent the better part of the trip on the slopes, but had the evenings to enjoy some après ski beverages and delicious meals (stay tuned for my Squaw Valley travel guide).
It was rather mild weather-wise during my trip, so I kept my looks easy and comfortable; often leaving the hotel without heavy layers. With an oversized cozy sweater and thermal shirt casual après ski style came easily.
If there’s one thing I can’t recommend more for an upcoming ski trip, it’s a comfortable pair of snow boots. These Sorel boots were comfortable and did me a world of good while trudging through the Olympic Village in the snow, carrying my skis or snowshoeing to dinner.
