Why hello there! It’s been quite awhile since we’ve sat down for a coffee talk around here. Isn’t it funny how life has its own way of getting in the way of things? I don’t like to write these chats too far in advanced, as I want to be as candid and up-to-date as possible, and every time I went to write one, something else came up. Well finally I’m back for a chat and to bring y’all up to speed on things going on at Girl Wonder Life and behind the scenes with the blogger… me š So grab that cup of coffee, tea or water and let’s dive into the latest coffee talk.

I hadn’t been traveling too much the last few months, but then booked a trip with my mom to Hawaii to tag along on a work trip of hers. Rick flew out with me to Phoenix, my home state for a wedding (my high school friend and college roommate, Caroline got married), the last weekend of February. Then he flew home and I continued on with my mom to Maui.
Growing up in Arizona, I was fortunate enough to vacation in Maui every so often, as it’s considerably close to get there with some airlines offering non-stop flights to Oahu. We spent six glorious days on the Ka’anapali side of the island, enjoying the weather (it was actually a bit cooler then we were used to), doing some shopping and indulging on tasty mai tais and some of the freshest fish you’ve ever tasted.
I’m working on a Maui travel guide and hope to have it up for y’all in the next week or two. I took quite a bit of notes and tons of pictures, so stay tuned, as the guide will definitely be jam packed with travel tips and must-visit spots.
Although I love traveling, it definitely feels good to be home and get back into a routine! Of course I missed Rick and Lucy so much, and it’ll be fun to spend uninterrupted time with them this weekend.
If you’re not from Houston, then chances are you haven’t heard about the Houston Rodeo. It’s definitely one of my favorite parts about the city and it happens every spring. There are tons of great concerts, a pretty epic carnival and some seriously delicious eats. We usually make it out a couple of times and always try to go to a concert or two.
Friday will be our first trip to the 2019 Houston Rodeo and I’m looking forward to it. For the first time in what seems like ages, the weather isn’t supposed to be freezing and hopefully the rain will hold off. I’m definitely looking forward to some fried food, a cup of corn and the rodeo festivities like Mutton Bustin’ – quite possibly one of the most endearing and hilarious events you’ll ever watch!
In the meantime, around here, I’ve got some fun content planned. As I mentioned, I’m working on my Maui travel guide, but also have a much-overdue post on our guest bathroom renovation (featuring before and after pictures); a highly-requested post on my experience fostering a dog and why it was one of the most difficult, yet rewarding things I’ve ever done in my life; a book review post that has been almost a year in the making; and some fun springtime outfit inspiration. I’m excited to share more soon!
As always, thanks so much for stopping by and taking the time to read my little corner of the Internet! I plan on putting together a quick little reader survey and would love for you to take part, I’ll be giving away a few gift cards as a thank you. Be sure to sign-up for my newsletter and stay tuned for that, soon. Happy Wednesday!
Now for a few things that Iām loving and/or shopping as of late:
– If you’re loving on the palm earrings I’m wearing in the photos above (they’re darling, lightweight and under $30!), then you must check out the St. Armands Designs Etsy shop. I also snagged these adorable beaded heart earrings for Valentine’s Day and want all their other pieces too, including these tortoise knocker earrings.
– In Hawaii my mom and I discovered a local-Hawaiian designer Tori Richard and fell in love with her brightly colored and fun printed pieces. I can’t wait for the weather to warm up so I can wear some of my finds! I snagged this absolutely darling floral printed dress and my mom and I each picked up one of these adorable pom pom trimmed wraps, she the turquoise and I the navy. We each used them throughout the rest of our trip and they are a perfect closet staple!
