Our favorite baby sleep sacks for warm weather climates

Top four favorite baby sleep sacks for warm weather climates like Texas and why my child loves them | Girl Wonder Life

A post I’ve been meaning to write for literally half a year, but alas, here we are. I realize every baby is different, but in my motherhood journey, I’ve found reading and hearing recommendations from trusted sources has really helped inform my purchases for Olivia. Finally here to share our favorite baby sleep sacks for warm weather climates.

Living in Houston, we really don’t have much of a winter. On top of that, Olivia runs warm, so finding a sleep sack that wasn’t too hot for her while sleeping took a bit of trial and error.

I’ll admit, Olivia is a really good sleeper. We are very lucky. We worked with a sleep consultant in those early transition to crib months, and it was extremely helpful. So with that, we really didn’t struggle with the sleeping transitions as much as others might. With Olivia we followed the track of swaddle, Magic Merlin Sleepsuit and finally sleep sack. At a year and a half, she still solely sleeps in her sleep sack and it’s become a helpful part to our getting ready for bedtime routine.

I recognize that every baby is different, so hopefully these recommendations will come as a helpful guide as you try to navigate finding your favorite baby sleep sacks for warm weather climates.

Favorite Baby Sleep Sacks for Warm Weather

Top Picks:

Burt’s Bees Baby Beekeeper Wearable Blanket

Our top pick! This wearable sleep sack for warm weather hits all the needs for a sleepsack that works in warm weather. The Burt’s Bees wearable blankets are lightweight, organic cotton and ultra-affordable! I find myself reaching for this sleep sack over and over, especially in hot and humid Houston. Just enough of a layer to keep Olivia warm at night, but she runs warm to begin with, so these light weight sleep sacks are perfect. We own four of them! These sleep sacks wash well, plus the sizes are generous so we haven’t had to purchase different sizes as Olivia has grown.

Kyte Baby Wearable Blanket 0.5 Tog

I understand the hype behind the Kyte Baby wearable blankets, but we tend to only use this one when Houston temperatures are 70 degrees or less. Kyte Baby has made a name for itself with the ultra soft Bamboo material and side zip entry and exit on their sleep sacks. However, for us, they were a little bit too warm! We own both a 1.0 TOG (Thermal Overall Grade – the lower the TOG rating, the lighter the fabric), and a 0.5 TOG. Both are heavier than just the simple cotton sleepsacks we own by other brands. I only put Olivia in the 1.0 TOG when it’s less than 50 degrees outside in Houston, it’s just too heavy for her to sleep in comfortably. Kyte is expensive, as well, but I’m happy to report that the quality is worth the price.

Runners Up:

halo sleep sacks

Generally speaking, the Halo Sleep Sacks are extremely similar to the Burt’s Bees sacks. There are two reasons I like the Burt’s Bees better – they’re less expensive and the zipper works better. We used Halo swaddle wraps before graduating to the sleep sacks, and they worked nicely. However, the Halo Sleep sack zippers seem to be a bit stickier and overall tougher for me to get zipped unless it’s perfectly lit in Olivia’s room. They’re soft and 100% cotton, and wash well, but again they’re a runner up because the cotton feels a little flimsy for the price. Lastly, I feel like the sizing in Halo sleep sacks isn’t as generous as others. But overall, it’s a good sleep sack to try for your kiddo.

Full disclosure, I was gifted the Milky Sleep Bag by Milk Snob. We like it, and the patterns and fabrication are high-quality, like that of Kyte. However, it’s just too heavy for Olivia to sleep in comfortably in a hot weather climate. The Milky Sleep Bag is a 1.0 TOG, and from my research it looks like the brand only offers 1.0 TOG in their sleep sacks. I love the patterns and how soft the sack is. The price is comparable to other high-end sleep sack brands, and we use this one when it’s cold in Houston. If your baby runs warm, I’d say this sleep bag probably isn’t for them. However, Milk Snob’s pajamas are some of my favorites – so soft, lightweight and wash really nicely!

Suffice it to say, what works for us, may not work for your baby! Take my thoughts on baby sleep sacks for warm weather with a grain of salt. I share this post specifically for mommas of babies in warmer climates. Plus, what I like about one, you may dislike and vice-versa. It took a bit of trial and error to figure out with sleep sack worked best for Olivia, but now it’s a substantial part of our bedtime routine and she sleeps great with it!

We’ve also added another piece to our sleep routine that’s seemed to help Olivia get better sleep. I found a small, yet mighty, that fits perfectly behind the glider in her nursery. I can control it via bluetooth and I truly feel like it’s helped the air quality in Olivia’s room. The app even will remind me when the out, and overall it’s been a wonderful under $90 addition to her room. I’ve also been from time to time during the months when cold season is so prevelant.

Let me know in the comments below if you have a sleep sack you love that I didn’t mention!
