Hi y’all! Thanks for your understanding while I took a few days to recoup and get back into the swing of things after New York Fashion Week. In case you had’t heard, it was pretty freezing in NYC, some of the coldest temps. they’ve had in decades! Safe to say I was piling on the layers for my NYFW street style looks.
On the first day of shows, Thursday, I attended Nicholas K‘s runway show to kickoff the season and then headed over to Pier 59 for the Mathieu Mirano presentation (stay tuned for a full runway recap soon!). My friend Valerie and I headed over to Tartine in the West Village for a much needed brunch and gal-pal time then headed our separate ways and I made my way uptown for a meeting at the Julie Vos showroom.
The whirlwind continued as I changed into this look for an afternoon back at the tents – the Desigual FW16 show. Definitely a favorite this season, which is funny because I’ve always thought of the brand as more out of my comfort zone, but there were so many pieces I would totally rock! See more from the show here.
This was the only street style look in which I didn’t wear a heavier coat than my Theory leather moto jacket (last seen here). Layers were key with this look, as I had four layers on top! A base layer which was my saving grace all week long, a turtleneck, my trusty fisherman sweater (last seen here) and the perfect leather moto.
Yes, my maxi skirt is just a think silk, but I layered on the tights and fleece leggings as well! #Freezingforfashion y’all! It was really just a bit windy, which made things a little difficult to stay warm, but all-in-all, the first day of NYFW was rather balmy in comparison to the weekend and the way below freezing temperatures.
Shooting in New York is one of my favorite things, simply for the street style look you can totally achieve. I love the concrete jungle and the miscellaneous people in the background. Of course too, gotta grab that yellow cab in the background too!
Have you been following any NYFW street style stars??
