March came and we had the true first hints of spring here in Hosuton, albeit one day mixed in with plenty of rain and cold temps to usher in the month. My sweet mom picked up this paisley shift dress for me at J.Crew Factory a few weeks ago (now on sale!) and I love how the options of styling via accessories are endless. Here I’ve dressed it up with gold accessories like my Dagne Dover clutch-wallet and gorgeous gold pieces via my friends at Lewis Jewelers.

Let me introduce you to Lewis, a Houston-based jeweler, first opened its doors in Clear Lake. Most recently they opened their latest store in Uptown Park (last seen here) – for us Houstonians that may not venture down to Clear Lake as often as we’d like. Lewis‘ emphasis on their personal relationships with customers, their excellent range in price points and welcoming store layout had me just about ready to move right in (DryBar is right next door, Starbucks a hop skip and a jump away, I think I could survive surrounded by gorgeous baubles, right?!) But I digress.

While this dress could easily look more casual with a pair of Jack Rogers and a jean jacket, I decided to go for the alternative – dressed up with heels, a spring coat and some rather versatile jewels that could easily be coupled with a casual ensemble. For me, jewelry needs to be functional. I love how this Jude Frances chain piece actually is multiple pieces and comes apart into two items; turns into a shorter necklace, a bracelet or even wrap-around bracelet.

The Gumuchian ring snaps open and also becomes a bracelet – how cool is that?! Functionality is key when opting for higher end jewelry, because honestly, who wants to keep their jewelry tucked away only for special occasions? Simply put, the pieces I used to dress up my look, were rather special and had a little bit of a story behind them (which I love), and I could easily see myself wearing this look out to a luncheon, a spring fling or even Easter brunch right around the corner!
